Music Production - ADR Recording and Looping - Sound Stage & Studio

Working organically.

By Mark Baykian

Somebody once said that "recording studios range from  "No Problem" on one end to, "Exasperating to Use" on the other end.

If you have a producer, or you are the producer, you can skip this.

If you do not have a producer then it is up to us, the studio. to design your floor plan.

A properly designed floor plan must incorporate good site lines as well as provide desirable listening balances. Logistically, it should also be ready for the quick overdub instead of  "just a playback please" which can save time and prime energy.

A simple phone conversation is a great way to begin the process.  In the end, we want to make sure the floor plan is ready when you walk in and it Holds up throughout the session.

Where applicable, a careful study of the vocalist is important in order to make a recording which does not sound like everyone else. A present scratch Vocal-Sound in the cans can help to make obvious, and define the work load for the instruments. Pumping it up can save a voice while still providing attitude necessary to make the backing track live large on the tape.
